At PERA we're contributing to improve the world through education and science to develop new socio-economical mechanisms to stimulate rural and urban communities growth. We also work toward a better access of health care systems for all. We aim to build environmental resilience as a step-stone to achieve these goals.
Activities
Proyectos Educativos Regionales de Autoayuda and its allies have been pioneering in Guatemala in the education and rural communities development.
Back in the 90's we were the first school for working woman that functioned in Sundays with non-religious and non-political association. We were impacted by the extraordinary spirit of mayan woman migrant from rural areas that were willing to learn how to read and write in Spanish up to high school level, for 15 years.
We also exchanged knowledge with people from rural communities for farming improvement.
Currently we have realized that as global citizens we have the ethical duty with the future generations to preserve natural resources while still exploiting them. That is why we envision science based projects that pursue this lofty goal.

Back in 1991, our Non-Profit Organization realized that we can catalyze regional improvement by working together, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch Proyectos Educativos Regionales de Autoayuda.
